Googoosh

Googoosh is, to me, far more than a pop icon; she is a living archive of Iranian memory. A career spanning over six decades is remarkable for anyone, but doing so through the upheavals her country has endured makes her endurance almost heroic. What strikes me is how her voice became a vessel for longing, identity, and quiet resistance for millions. Few artists carry the emotional weight of a nation in their songs, yet she does so with grace. I regard her as one of those rare performers whose art transcends entertainment and becomes part of a people's heritage.
