H. D. Kumaraswamy

What draws me to Kumaraswamy is the rare pairing of film producer and career politician. Rising from Hassan district in Karnataka to twice serving as Chief Minister and now holding a Union cabinet post for Heavy Industries and Steel is no small arc. Both cinema and politics are crafts of persuasion and stagecraft, and I suspect his time around screens sharpens his instinct for narrative on the campaign trail. He strikes me as a survivor of South Indian regional politics, a tough and adaptable operator. I find that combination of artistry and grit genuinely compelling to watch.
