Hardwell

For me, Hardwell is the very soundtrack of EDM's golden age. Born Robbert van de Corput in Breda, Netherlands, he was crowned the world's number one DJ by DJ Mag in both 2013 and 2014, igniting crowds of tens of thousands at Tomorrowland and Ultra. Those festival sets are core memories for my generation. I respect not only his trend-defining production but his conviction, retiring at his peak and later returning on his own terms. Beyond chasing hype, he had a real gift for fusing a massive crowd into a single euphoric heartbeat, and that earns my lasting admiration.
