Heinrich XIII Prinz Reuss

What unsettles me about Heinrich XIII Prinz Reuss is how a man born into one of Germany's oldest aristocratic houses, comfortably working in real estate, chose to chase the ghost of a vanished sovereignty instead of quietly carrying his heritage; in December 2022 he was arrested as the alleged leader of a coup plot, and his trial began in Frankfurt in 2024. I keep thinking about the gap between inherited prestige and how a person actually uses it. A noble name is not a destiny; it is a tool, and tools reveal character. To me he reads less as a curiosity of the German nobility and more as a cautionary tale about nostalgia hardening into something far more dangerous than mere eccentricity.
