Takayuki Kishi

I've got a real soft spot for the crafty pitchers, and Takayuki Kishi is exactly my kind of guy. A Sendai kid out of Tohoku Gakuin University, he's spent a long career proving that you don't need to throw 100 to dominate, it's all guile, location, and that maddening change of pace that leaves hitters lunging at air. At 180cm he's got the frame, but what I love is the brain behind the delivery, the way he seems to be three pitches ahead of the batter. There's something quietly cool about a guy who just keeps showing up, year after year, refusing to fade. The word that keeps coming to mind is craftsman, and honestly, I mean it as the highest compliment.
