My Take
I'll be honest, finding out one guy dreamed up Final Fantasy kind of floors me every time. Hironobu Sakaguchi, born in Hitachi, Ibaraki, went to Yokohama National University, and you'd peg him as a pure tech brain, but the man directs films and writes books too, which makes me wonder just how crowded and colorful his imagination must be. He never struck me as a self-promoter type; more the storyteller who's gazing somewhere far off while everyone else chatters. When I think back on the worlds I got lost in as a kid and realize this guy was behind the curtain the whole time, it genuinely warms me up. Real artist, real craft.
