Hiyori Hamagishi

Hiyori Hamagishi is one of those members where the first thing that jumps out is the height — 167 cm is genuinely tall for a Japanese idol, which means she cuts a completely different silhouette on stage than her Hinatazaka46 groupmates, and honestly it works in her favor. Born in Fukuoka in 2002, she brought that Kyushu warmth into a group that already runs on cheerful energy, and fans latched onto her fast enough to give her the nickname Hiyotan, which really tells you everything: not the flashy center-type, but the one people feel weirdly protective of. The fact that fashion and acting work have followed the idol career makes sense — when you have that combination of height, a soft presence, and actual screen charisma, other industries come calling. She started all this as a teenager and has been figuring out who she is as a performer in full public view, which takes a certain quiet toughness that I think gets underrated when people focus on how approachable she seems.

Hiyori Hamagishi (born September 28, 2002, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan) is a former member of the idol group Hinatazaka46, where she was affectionately known by the nickname Hiyotan; she left the group in 2024 and is now represented by Horipro. Standing 167 cm tall, she has expanded her career beyond music and performance into fashion modeling and acting. Her first photobook, Moshimo, was published in December 2024.
