Hudson Leick

For me, Hudson Leick will always be Callisto, the antagonist who gave Xena: Warrior Princess much of its emotional weight. What I admire is how she made villainy feel wounded and human rather than cartoonish, which is far harder than it looks. Born in Cincinnati and starting out as a model in Japan, she clearly had the screen presence, but it was her willingness to play someone unlovable that earned her a lasting place in genre fandom. She has largely stepped away from acting now, yet I think she proved a quiet truth: a great antagonist can elevate an entire show. I'd happily watch her return.
