My Take
Ian Hill is, to me, the very definition of the steady backbone of a band. As Judas Priest's bassist, he is one of only two members to play on every studio album, which in a genre full of lineup chaos is a remarkable kind of loyalty. I tend to admire musicians like him who never chase the spotlight yet are utterly load-bearing; metal lives or dies on its low end, and he has held that down for decades. Coming out of West Bromwich, he helped build one of British heavy metal's defining sounds. Quiet endurance like his is something I genuinely respect.
