Itua Ikhine

Itua Ikhine is one of those players who makes you do a double-take the moment you learn his story — born in Japan to Nigerian parents, raised in Nagoya, and somehow turning into a first-round NPB draft pick for the SoftBank Hawks at just 18. Then came the gut punch: after rehabbing a sore right knee, he fractured his left thumb in July 2023 and never appeared in an official game that season. He kept grinding as a shortstop in the farm system and finally reached the top team in May 2025, and you get the sense this kid is way more resilient than his age suggests. The speed, the power and the arm are all real. He is still raw, still developing, but the upside here is legitimately exciting — a multinational story in the very Japanese world of NPB, and he is just getting started.
