Jacqueline Fernandez

Jacqueline Fernandez has one of the more genuinely cross-border stories in Indian cinema: born and raised in Bahrain, of Sri Lankan heritage, educated at the University of Sydney, and a former television reporter before modeling. I find that path more interesting than the usual star origin story. To pivot from journalism into beauty pageants and then claw your way into Bollywood as an outsider takes real nerve. At 177 cm she naturally commands the frame, but it is the easy adaptability of someone who has moved between cultures that comes through on screen. Breaking into that sheer volume of an industry from the outside earns my respect.
