My Take
Jason Chaffetz fascinates me mostly for the sheer shape of his path. A college football player at Brigham Young who became a business executive and then a congressman from Utah, eventually chairing the Oversight Committee, he carried an athlete's combativeness straight into politics. His high-profile investigations made him a polarizing figure, and I won't pretend everyone reads his record the same way. But what I respect, regardless of one's politics, is conviction acted on rather than hedged. People who pivot careers so dramatically and commit fully tend to make history interesting, and I find that kind of restless drive genuinely worth studying.
