My Take
What thrills me about Jason Kidd is that he staked his career on making teammates better rather than scoring himself. A 193 cm guard out of San Francisco who had the frame to be a featured star, he chose instead to be the craftsman racking up triple-doubles and lighting up everyone around him. The All-NBA and All-Defensive nods, the leap from Rookie of the Year to head coach, all of it tells the story. To me the most valuable player in basketball is the one who summons wins without needing the spotlight. Kidd saw the floor from a higher vantage point, and connoisseurs revere him for it.
