My Take

Jeon Mi-seon was an actress I always trusted in Korean cinema's deep bench of supporting players. Whether in Memories of Murder, Moon Embracing the Sun, or Hide and Seek, she set the emotional temperature of every scene she entered. Trained the classical way from Anyang Arts High School onward, with real stage-honed depth, she brought a weight you could feel through the screen. She led films too, but what moves me most is her gift for making a supporting role anything but ordinary. Her passing in 2019 still feels unreal to me. Each time I revisit her work, I'm struck by just how fine an actress she was.
