My Take

Jet Li is, to me, less an action star than a moving meditation. Trained in Beijing as a genuine martial artist, he gave the kung fu film a grace it rarely had, and he is rightly credited with reviving the whole genre. What moves me most is the arc beyond fighting: producer, writer, and philanthropist, a man who clearly spent his later years searching for what lies past sheer strength. I find his stillness more compelling than any stunt. Watching a master soften with age, trading spectacle for serenity, is one of cinema's quietly beautiful long stories.
