Joanna Angel

Joanna Angel interests me less as a performer and more as a builder. A Rutgers graduate from Brooklyn, she launched BurningAngel.com in 2002 and effectively grew the alt-porn genre by marrying punk and tattoo culture to adult entertainment. She didn't just appear on camera; she directed, wrote, and ran her own enterprise, earning AVN and XRCO Hall of Fame honors along the way. Regardless of how one feels about the industry, I respect anyone who carves out a distinct aesthetic and keeps control of it in a market that rarely hands women the reins. Building something on your own terms deserves recognition across any field.
