My Take
Johan Neeskens is one of those players whose greatness gets a little lost behind a more famous teammate. Cruyff was the artist of that Dutch side, but Neeskens was its engine and its warrior, doing the running, the tackling and the scoring all at once. Two World Cup finals, both lost, is a cruel record for a midfielder this complete. What I admire is how total his game was, embodying the philosophy rather than just executing it.
