My Take
John Astin fascinates me because he solved the problem that destroys most character actors: being remembered for a single role. Gomez Addams could have been a cage, yet Astin wore it like a favorite coat, returning to the part with genuine affection while quietly building decades of stage and screen work around it. What I admire most is the final act, going back to Johns Hopkins, his alma mater, to teach the next generation. That tells you everything about his relationship with the craft: it was never about fame, but about the work itself, and about handing the torch to people who love it as much as he does.
