John Davis

John Davis is a figure I find genuinely haunting. A blues singer born in South Carolina who later settled in Germany, he was one of the real voices behind Milli Vanilli, singing while others took the stage and lip-synced. There is something deeply unjust about that arrangement, yet also something quietly dignified: a craftsman doing honest work no matter who got the credit. To me, his story is a reminder that authenticity in music often hides in the shadows. He passed in 2021, and I think he deserves to be remembered not as a footnote to a scandal but as the genuine article.
