My Take
John Terry is one of those defenders who made you genuinely nervous if your favorite striker had to face him — the kind of guy who treated every match like a personal grudge. Growing up in Barking and coming through Chelsea's academy, he became the spine of one of the most dominant club sides English football saw in the 2000s, winning five Premier League titles and leading the Blues to Champions League glory in 2012. As captain he was commanding, utterly fearless, and at his best he made the whole back line feel unbeatable. Sure, his career came with controversy, but on the pitch the quality was undeniable, and his 2024 induction into the Premier League Hall of Fame feels like the right belated nod to a generation-defining centre-back.
