My Take
Josh Brolin is my favorite kind of Hollywood story: the early peak, the long wilderness, the magnificent second act. Being a Goonies kid could have been his entire biography, but he ground through decades of middling parts until No Country for Old Men revealed an actor of granite stillness. That weathered quality cannot be faked; it is earned. His Thanos worked precisely because Brolin understands how quiet conviction reads as menace, and his Oscar-nominated turn in Milk showed he can make even a killer pitiable. As the son of an actor, he could have coasted; instead he built his credibility scar by scar. I trust his face more than most scripts.
