Kangnam

Kangnam fascinates me as a genuinely cross-cultural figure. Born Yasuo Namekawa in Tokyo to a Korean mother and a Japanese father, and a South Korean citizen since 2022, he launched his career in South Korea as the vocalist of the hip-hop group M.I.B, he has since built a second life as a YouTuber and television personality. I respect how easily he moves between two languages and two entertainment industries, carrying both identities without apology. That kind of fluid, warm presence is hard to fake on variety television, and it explains his lasting likability. People who turn a complicated background into an asset rather than a hurdle always win my admiration.
