My Take
Katie Couric is one of the defining faces of American broadcast news for me. Anchoring Today, then becoming the first solo woman to anchor the CBS Evening News, was a genuine line in the sand for the industry. What I respect is that she didn't coast on that. She moved to 60 Minutes, into digital with Yahoo, then built Katie Couric Media and a daily newsletter when plenty of her peers were winding down. The Peabody, the Emmys, the Television Hall of Fame all track. I see her as someone who kept reinventing how she reaches an audience rather than clinging to one chair.
