Katie Leclerc

What draws me to Katie Leclerc is how she turned lived experience into craft. Living with hearing difficulty herself, she played a deaf teenager on Switched at Birth with a conviction most actors could only imitate. I find that kind of authenticity rare and quietly powerful. Even in smaller guest roles she leaves a residue, a face you remember. She began learning American Sign Language at 17, before she learned she had Ménière's disease, and I respect performers who lead with integrity over flash. She is the sort of actor I would happily follow across a long, unhurried career.
