Keenan Wynn

Keenan Wynn embodies everything I love about the great character actors of Hollywood's golden age. With that gloriously absurd full name and an even more expressive face, he rarely led a picture but always commanded the frame when he appeared. From film to television to voice work, he spent decades being the dependable, vivid presence that made leads look better and stories feel fuller, eventually earning a star on the Walk of Fame. He passed in 1986, but his body of work reminds me that cinema is held together by these indispensable supporting players. I tip my hat to him.
