Keisuke Ogihara

I've got a real soft spot for ILMARI — he's the kind of rapper who makes everything sound effortless, which is probably the hardest thing to actually pull off. As one of the core members of Rip Slyme, he helped shape a uniquely Japanese flavor of hip-hop that blended smooth wordplay with pop sensibility, and the group's peak run in the early-to-mid 2000s produced genuinely infectious records that still hold up. What I find interesting about ILMARI is how he carries a laid-back charisma that anchors the group's sound without overshadowing it — he's a team player in the best sense, but you always know when he's on the mic. Rip Slyme never really chased the aggressive edge of American rap; they carved their own lane, and ILMARI was central to that identity.
