My Take

Kevin Porter Jr. is one of those players who makes you simultaneously excited and nervous — the raw talent has never been in question, but the path has been anything but straight. A Seattle kid out of Rainier Beach High School, he came into the league as a late first-round pick and immediately flashed the kind of off-the-dribble creativity that you just cannot teach. His run with Houston showed glimpses of a genuine star — triple-doubles, clutch buckets, real playmaking vision at just 21 or 22 years old. But off-court issues repeatedly pulled the focus away from what he could do on it. Watching him land with the Bucks feels like one more chapter in a story still very much being written by a guy who has all the tools and knows it.
