My Take
Kirk Baily occupies a tender spot for a certain generation. Born in Adrian, Michigan and educated at Miami University, he is best remembered as Ug, the camp counselor on Nickelodeon's Salute Your Shorts, a role that is part authority figure, part beloved foil. I tend to believe it takes real warmth to play that kind of part convincingly for kids, and his later voice work in animation and games suggests a performer with genuine range behind the microphone. He passed in 2022, but roles like his live on in the childhood memories of an entire audience, which strikes me as a fine legacy.
