My Take
What I admire most about Kurt Sutter is his refusal to stay behind the camera. Most showrunners build a world and direct it from a distance; Sutter wrote, produced, directed, and then climbed into the cage as Otto Delaney himself. Sons of Anarchy could have been cheap biker spectacle, but he made it operatic, grimy, and genuinely tragic. The Mayans M.C. spinoff proved his universe had real bones. To me he represents the writer-as-author ideal in modern television: messy, uncompromising, and totally committed. From a Rahway kid to a defining voice of FX, that is a craftsman worth respecting.
