Laura Devon

Laura Devon is the kind of mid-century performer I love to spotlight. Born Mary Louise Briley in Chicago in 1931, she carried several titles at once: actress, singer, model. That versatility tells me she was resourceful and disciplined in an era that demanded both. She worked through the 1960s television and film landscape and passed away in 2007, but the footage keeps her young. I think there is real dignity in artists who never became household names yet showed up and did the work, and Devon earns my quiet respect.
