My Take

Lee Child fascinates me as a study in deliberate craft disguised as easy thrills. A Coventry-born, Sheffield-educated Brit who built his fortune on Jack Reacher, a drifting American ex-military cop, he understood that propulsion is its own art form. Killing Floor announced him with the Anthony Award, and the Diamond Dagger and CBE confirm the literary establishment eventually had to take genre seriously. I find his discipline genuinely impressive: the man engineered books you physically cannot put down, which is harder than most literary novelists admit. Every time a new Reacher lands, I know exactly what I am getting, and I keep coming back anyway.
