Leon Bridges

Leon Bridges hooks me because he revived 1960s soul without it feeling like mere costume. The Texas kid who went from Crowley High to a breakout debut sings with a warmth that feels timeless, yet he refuses to stay frozen in nostalgia. I admire how he has since stretched into R&B and country, honoring influences while pushing forward. To me that balance, reverence for the old paired with restless curiosity, is the mark of a real artist. He sounds like the past, but he is clearly building something of his own.
