My Take
Headland is one of the sharpest comedic voices working today, and I think she's still underrated. Her films like Bachelorette and Sleeping with Other People dig into ugly, honest corners of modern womanhood without flinching, yet they never lose their warmth. Co-creating Russian Doll, with its two Emmy nominations, proved she could turn a high-concept loop into something genuinely moving about damage and renewal. Her playwriting roots show in dialogue that actually crackles. What excites me is her willingness to be prickly and unconventional rather than safe. I'd follow her into almost any project, because she clearly trusts the audience to keep up.
