My Take

Lil Nas X strikes me as the first artist truly native to the internet rather than merely successful on it. Old Town Road wasn't just a record-breaking single; it was a masterclass in memes, genre subversion, and audience-building that the industry is still reverse-engineering. What I respect even more is the timing of his coming out, at the very peak of a number-one run, when he had the most to lose. He converts controversy into spectacle and spectacle into art with a self-awareness that feels generationally new. I genuinely cannot predict his next move, and that unpredictability is exactly why I keep watching him.
