My Take

Lucas Glover earns my respect less for his 2009 U.S. Open triumph than for what came after it. Golf is brutal to its one-time winners, and plenty of major champions vanish into irrelevance within a few seasons. Glover, the tall Clemson product from Greenville, has instead kept grinding on the PGA Tour for well over a decade, weathering the inevitable slumps that come with the game. I admire that stubborn longevity far more than a single hot week. He represents a kind of unglamorous professionalism that rarely makes highlight reels, and that durability is exactly what makes him worth following.
