My Take
Marissa Jaret Winokur represents, to me, the joy of a role that fits like a glove. Winning the 2003 Tony for Best Actress as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, alongside the Theatre World and Drama Desk awards that same year, she clearly belonged on a Broadway stage. That part, about a plus-size girl brightening the world, seemed to channel her own irrepressible energy. What I appreciate is how she carried that warmth into television and voice work, building a lasting career on sheer likability. She is the rare performer whose optimism feels like genuine talent, not just personality.
