My Take

There is something I admire about a fighter who reaches for the summit and falls just short. Wach, a 202 cm Polish heavyweight from Krakow, challenged for the unified WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles in 2012, and win or lose, simply climbing into that ring took real nerve. Heavyweight boxing is the cruelest lottery in sport, one punch and the world flips. I am a sucker for the story of the challenger who dares the top of the mountain, and Wach gave the night everything his enormous frame could carry. Krakow should be proud of him.
