My Take
I'll be honest, when I clocked that Masakazu Sekiguchi is a politician who's also a licensed dentist, my brain short-circuited a little. A guy who can read both a nervous patient and a room full of lawmakers? That's a wild dual resume, and I kind of love how unglamorous it is. He's from Minano, a small mountain town tucked into the Chichibu hills of Saitama, and folks from that kind of quiet, green corner often carry this grounded, unhurried steadiness, and I get that vibe from him. Dentistry is basically a job of sitting with people's anxiety and staying calm, and I suspect that patient, listen-first temperament travels surprisingly well into the slow grind of politics. He reads less like a flashy showman and more like the dependable type who just quietly chips away, file by file, until the work's done.
