Max Martini

Max Martini is the embodiment of the dependable character actor, and I mean that with real respect. Whether he's playing a master sergeant in The Unit or a contractor under fire in 13 Hours, he projects a competence and steadiness that the camera instantly trusts. He rarely headlines, yet his presence raises the stakes of every scene he's in. I'm also drawn to the fact that he directs and produces, suggesting a craftsman who understands the whole machine, not just his mark. In an industry obsessed with stars, I value the people who make the ensemble believable, and Martini is one of the best at it.
