Meg Lanning

Meg Lanning is, to my mind, one of the great winners in modern cricket. Captaining Australia's women, she was central to seven world-championship campaigns, two World Cups and five T20 titles, a haul that no amount of luck can explain. That is the mark of genuine skill married to ruthless leadership. Her 2022 appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia only confirms her standing. What impresses me most is the calm she seemed to carry under pressure, delivering results when it mattered. She belongs firmly among the figures who shaped women's sport, and I salute her.
