My Take
Mel Gibson is, to me, the rare talent who mastered both sides of the camera. As an actor he gave us the feral energy of Mad Max and the manic charm of Lethal Weapon, then turned director and walked off with Best Picture and Best Director for Braveheart. That dual command is genuinely uncommon. His off-screen controversies have rightly complicated his legacy, and I do not pretend otherwise. Yet the raw intensity he burned into the screen is undeniable, and his instinct for sweeping, visceral storytelling holds up. Whatever one feels about the man, he is impossible to dismiss, and that staying power says something real.
