My Take

What I respect about Melina is the self-made arc. She trained at Jesse Hernandez's School of Hard Knocks in 2000, debuted in 2001, and built a name in WWE before continuing on into the NWA. Wrestling rewards reinvention, and juggling roles as performer, model and manager takes a particular kind of resilience. At 163 cm she was never the biggest figure in the ring, yet presence in that world has little to do with height. I am drawn to athletes who carve their own lane and keep showing up long after the spotlight shifts, and she clearly did.
