Miro Heiskanen

Miro Heiskanen strikes me as one of those defencemen you appreciate more the longer you watch. Drafted third overall in 2017 and now an alternate captain for the Dallas Stars, he plays with poise, all reading and positioning rather than highlight-reel violence. I value that quiet intelligence; it ages well and wins playoff series. Establishing yourself in the NHL as a young European, then earning a leadership letter, signals trust on and off the ice. I think his ceiling is still rising, and he is the kind of player I would build a blue line around.
