My Take
Molly Shannon is, to me, one of the bravest comic performers of her generation. Her Saturday Night Live years showed a willingness to throw her whole body into a joke that few peers could match. But what really earns my respect is the range she revealed later, winning the Film Independent Spirit Award for Other People in a role of genuine emotional weight. That pivot from anarchic sketch comedy to tender drama is rare and hard-won. I love performers who can make you laugh until it hurts and then quietly break your heart, and Shannon does both with disarming honesty.
