Nasri

What draws me to Nasri is that he is a craftsman first and a star second. Long before Magic!'s 2013 smash "Rude" topped the Billboard Hot 100, he was quietly shaping hits for other artists, and that pedigree shows in how effortlessly catchy his reggae-fusion melodies feel. I admire performers who can write the song, produce it, and then sell it from the front of the stage, and Nasri does all three. His Toronto-bred, Middle Eastern-rooted background gives the work a warmth and openness that, to me, keeps him from being dismissed as a one-hit act.
