Neil Cicierega

Neil Cicierega is one of the internet's true originals, and I mean that with real affection. Potter Puppet Pals, The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, the Lemon Demon albums, the genre-bending mashups under his own name, he embodies early web creativity better than almost anyone. The Massachusetts-born polymath works as puppeteer, musician, animator, and filmmaker without ever fitting a single box. He lives rent-free in a generation's memory. That, to me, is the point: his value can't be measured by commercial metrics. People like Cicierega are exactly why the internet stayed weird and wonderful.
