My Take
Watching Nic Claxton reminds me why modern basketball is so compelling. A Greenville, South Carolina native who came up through the University of Georgia, he was only the 31st pick in the 2019 draft, hardly a heralded prospect. Yet he transformed that 211 cm frame into a defensive anchor for the Brooklyn Nets, protecting the rim and tormenting opponents around it. I have a soft spot for players who are not the marquee scorer but become indispensable to a team's foundation. Stories of someone climbing from a low draft slot to carve out a real role never get old for me.
