My Take

What draws me to Nick Perkins is not stardom but persistence. A 203 cm big man out of Saginaw, Michigan, he sharpened his game at Buffalo and then took it abroad to Puerto Rico's BSN with Atléticos de San Germán. I find that path quietly admirable. The bright lights of the NBA are not the only measure of a basketball life; chasing the game wherever it pays, far from home, takes a particular grit. Born in 1996, he still has plenty of road ahead. I respect anyone who simply shows up and competes, and I will be rooting for his next chapter.
