My Take
Da Silva is an actor I rate for depth over flash. Trained in Sydney across stage, film and television, she clearly chose range as her ambition. Her Franky Doyle in Wentworth is the proof: a character who is fierce and fragile in the same breath, the sort of layered work that lesser performers flatten into a single note. Earlier, as a police officer in Rush, she showed the same backbone. What I appreciate is her preference for substance over glamour, building a career role by considered role. She strikes me as a performer whose best work rewards an audience willing to look closely.
