Rodolfo López

Rodolfo López carries the story I love most in boxing: a fighter from Cancún, a place the world pictures as a beach resort, who clawed his way to a WBC featherweight world title in 2006. Fourteen years in the ring, from 2000 to 2014, is not measured only in wins and losses; it is measured in the daily grind of making weight and absorbing punishment. Carrying Mexico's proud featherweight tradition into the ring takes a particular kind of heart. A champion's belt never truly leaves a man once he earns it. Quietly, I want to applaud everything López put on the line.
